Hello Monte Vista Families,
This is an important message asking for your support and partnership. Starting Tuesday, April 24, we will be strictly enforcing our District Wellness policy. We have noticed an increase in candy, sodas, energy drinks, and other types of junk food. Our district uses a formula to assess the benefits of food and snacks. Our kitchen and student store sell approved items only to ensure we are providing quality meals and snacks for our students. Eating excessive sugar, sodium and fats can interfere with learning, impairs memory, and contributes to depression and anxiety. We will be confiscating any items that are not compliant with our wellness policy such as candy, energy drinks/sodas, and other types of "junk food." State testing is right around the corner and we want to be sure that students have their best chance. Please help us by talking with your kids and ensuring that they are not bringing these items to school. Thank you for your continued support.
